I thought that the comments on the impact of Remittances on Foreign Exchange Rate were interesting. Are there reliable papers on this issue?

It seems however that if remittances could only cause significant appreciation of home currency where there inflows from Export are themselves very low. That is in countries that already have very weak export sectors. Then the primary effect of the appreciation would be to make Foreign goods cheaper - and hence increase the Purchasing Power of the home country. That is the currency appreciation in this case may be economically good.
